Just4thehelluvit

**this post is a STICKY (just like my floors). Scroll Down for newer posts**

I am probably nut-so crazy to do this, because I only have a million things I should be reading.  I have joined a HERD of reading challenges this year, and it has been a completely delicious ride.  I met a bunch of other completely mentally crazed people like myself who must compulsively join challenges, not out of a sense of competition, but out of a sense of just trying to get all the really great books ever written read before we can't read anymore.  It's a sickness, a true sickness.

Throughout the reading madness, I have heard only one complaint: there isn't enough time for spontaneous reading.  I agree.  To that end I have decided to start this challenge:

justforthehelluvit

Go on...sound it out.  It'll aaaaaalllll make sense in a moment.   The just4thehelluvit challenge is for those of us who just can't seem to read something simply because we want to.  Therefore, this challenge has just one rule: nothing you read for it can cross over to ANY other challenge.  You are reading these books JUST4THEHELLUVIT!  I don't care if you read one book or forty-three. I don't care if they won awards or not, if they have literary merit or not, if your Aunt Mathilda's poodle wrote it in a worm medicine induced stupor or not.  I just don't care. Go on and read one for fun! Do it for me! Do it for the hell of it! But please, PLEASE for the love of all that is holy, do not make a list.  One afternoon when a book sounds good, just tickles your fancy for no good reason, go ahead and READ IT WITHOUT GUILT! And consider yourself officially a reading rebel!

I'd love to hook ya'll up with a Mr. Linky, but Mr. Linky and Typepad don't play nice, so just drop me a little comment to tell me you want to play, and I'll get us a page going on for all the fun. Oh and a Button. A fun button. That I want to see it on all your pretty little blogs so that little old ladies and the language police can have wee heart palpataions because you might have almost dropped a little curse word in your blog *GASP*!

I promise you, this is no joke.  It's a true challenge.  Break out of the reading doldrums and come play in the sun.

I have a lot of books that can fall into this catagory, myself. Where are the buttons? Judy

Just4thehellofit is as good a reason as any I've seen! Count me in :)

I finally have a book for this justforthehelluvit.

It's THE IRRESISTIBLE BACHELOR by Jessica Bird...so worth it!

I am obviously late in coming in, but sure! I'll join.

Great idea, Dana

Go ahead. Twist. That. Arm. Harder. Ok, Ok...I'll do it.

If I picked a book for the hellofit, then made a list with it on it because I read simulataneously upwards of 10 books....does that book still count?

Dana, I love this challenge! I'm joining you in this madness!

My recent justforthehelluvit reads:

Sexy: http://areaderathinker.blogspot.com/2007/10/because-it-is-bitter-and-because-it-is.html

Gleaned from a used shelf at the thrift store: http://areaderathinker.blogspot.com/2007/09/endless-steppe.html

Family Planning: http://areaderathinker.blogspot.com/2007/07/family-planning.html

I am joining in...a little later than most, but lately I can not seem to want to read books for the challenges I've joined and I figure at least I can join the fun here, right! I don't blog, but currently for this challenge I am reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Devil in a White City and Confessions of a Slacker Wife (boy does that title fit me to a T!). And yes I am reading all three just bits and pieces when the mood strikes. I can never seem to read just one book from cover-to-cover!

I use the lists website under Lindy.

Here is Sept.
1 104 Saul, John Perfect Nightmare
3 105 oberts, Noras Key of Light
4 106 Geritsen, Tess Vanish
6 107 Roberts, Nora Blue Dahlia

I'm in, please!

In fact, just the other day, I was bemoaning the fact (to myself) that I'd joined "too many challenges" for the 2007 Reading year, and I was feeling overwhelmed at all I *had* to read -- so I went to my local library's website, and I requested 2 books "just4thehelluvit"! I plan on reading them both, soon -- and with the kids going back to school this week, I'll have guaranteed "uninterrupted" reading time! Whoohoo! :D
Thanks for this!

I wanna sign up!!!! I got a book already for it, and one more to be added in like 2 days lol

Hey I finished three already. Where do link those?

this sounds like fun. count me in

This sounds very good, and I hope not to complicated for me. So far I have joined at least 1 who ddint' even know I joined ....lol

just the kind of reading I like to do! I'm in.

i am so there! :)

i'm in. i think i need a break every so often from reading my bar materials for the bar exams. gee, that didn't sound right. well, just for the hell of it :-)

Wonderful idea for a challenge. Count me in! (but, gasp, I had to put an almost swear word on my pretty, little blog - You won't tell anyone, will you?!)

Love the humor you put into this post. I was jumping for joy in between rolling on the floor laughing.

I want to play!

Famous last words, uttered just last week: "No more challenges!" Therefore, just4thehelluvit, I'm in! Great idea.

Hi, this sounds great as I seem to be doing a lot of "just4thehelluvit" reading anyhow! Now I can actually read whatever grabs my fancy at the moment and count it! I want in!Thanks!
